    FEBRUARY MEETING REGISTRATION OPEN: Registration is now open for the February 11th Membership meeting, “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”- Employment Law Update 2020 Review presented by Sara J. Ackermann, Attorney, Ruder Ware, L.L.S.C. Log into your CWSHRM account to register.

    WISHRM DAY ON THE HILL: Sign up for WISHRM Day on the Hill and help CWSHRM receive $500!!!! The chapter with the highest percentages of registrants win. This year's Day on the Hill will be held virtually on February 18th from 7:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The Virtual Day on the Hill will provide you with a half-day of education, legal updates, advocacy, and networking opportunities with your HR colleagues and legislators. Boardman Clark, LLP will provide a legal update, National SHRM Government Affairs will provide legislative and advocacy updates, and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce will be hosting a panel discussion with legislators and/or staff from the Wisconsin State Legislature. Visit https://www.wishrm.org/2021-Day-on-the-Hill to register.

    MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS: Beginning in February, on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 11am, CWSHRM will hold informal roundtable/networking meetings via Zoom. This is a chance for you to jump on a meeting and ask your fellow HR peers questions related to the roundtable topic. If you have ideas on topics, please send them to Jess VanderPloeg, jessicav@mutualofwausau.com.

    CWSHRM WEBSITE: CWSHRM’s website will begin a transition to another platform, Star Chapter, in February and will go live in March. Please watch for more information throughout the next month.

    Membership renewals for the 2021 year were emailed to all members on November 17, 2021. We understand many business are experiencing unprecedented times and are reevaluating expenses as we approach the end of year. Because we value our members and truly believe in the value CWSHRM can offer, we have decided to reduce the membership fee from $150.00 to $75.00 for the 2021 year. The renewal invoices reflect this reduction. Please be sure to renew your membership by January 1, 2021 so you can continue to enjoy all of the CWSHRM member benefits without interruption.

    Our 2021 meeting schedule will be distributed soon. Our current plan is to hold all meetings virtually, at least through August. Starting in September, we may move to holding meetings in-person depending on the local guidelines in place at that time. Stay tuned for more information regarding our 2021 meeting speakers and topics.

    Wisconsin HR Professional of the Year Awards: Throughout the COVID-19 crisis this year, employers have stepped up big to reimagine how they do business. Often led by you and the HR team, employers have had to figure out how to keep workers and customers safe, shift to remote work as applicable, establish new lines of communications and, for those remote workers, build new ways of maintaining a positive company culture. Many have also worked on creating workshare plans and have helped their employees navigate all the new sick leave and unemployment benefit changes related to COVID-19. This has truly been a year when having a strong HR leader and team has been consequential.

    WMC and Ogeltree Deakins are currently accepting nominations for the 4th annual Human Resources Professional of the Year Awards, and we want to hear from and about HR professionals throughout the state that have done gone above and beyond during the crisis. Please consider nominating individuals in your company, self-nominate, or nominating a local SHRM member.     2020 CWSHRM Spring Conference & Membership Meetings Update: Due to the ever-changing policies and uncertainties regarding group gatherings, the CWSHRM Board & Leadership Team has decided to postpone the 2020 Spring Conference until 2021. If in the event we are able to offer a similar event virtually or in-person at an earlier date, we will send a communication out to the membership. Additionally, at this time we are reworking our fall schedule as some speakers’ availability has changed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Thank you for your patience as we work to provide programming for you that meets our group’s mission while keeping everyone safe and healthy.

    CWSHRM Awarded EXCEL Platinum Award: SHRM recently awarded CWSHRM its prestigious EXCEL Platinum Award for the chapter’s accomplishments in 2019. The EXCEL award is given to state councils and chapters to recognize major accomplishments, strategic activities, and tactical initiatives that elevate the profession of human resources. The EXCEL Award can be earned at four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Each level has a prescribed set of requirements and accomplishments that must be met. Congratulations CWSHRM!
